Hello Kitty Theme Park in China by 2014

Hello Kitty is moving to the most populous country in the world, China. By 2014, there will be a new Hello Kitty Theme Park in Anji, China. ^_^

California, US-based Hettema Group has been appointed by Japan-based Sanrio to draw up a masterplan and concept designs for a new Hello Kitty Park in Anji, China.

Due to open in 2014, the planned new amusement park is the result of a licensing agreement between Sanrio and Zhejiang New Insight Leisure Tourism Development Co.

The deal will enable the use of the Sanrio-owned characters and intellectual property as part of the Hello Kitty Park project, with work due to commence in November.

Five natural elements – including fire, water, wood, metal and earth – will create sub-themes in the park’s flower petal design, while a world festival area will also be created.

The new amusement park will be Sanrio’s first outdoor operation outside Japan, with the company already operating two theme parks at Oita and Tokyo.

Hettema Group president, creative executive and founder Phil Hettema said: "Hello Kitty Park will be sensitively integrated into the landscape with ecological featured throughout the park’s attractions."

Japan’s Hello Kitty settles bunny dispute with Miffy

The Japanese company behind Hello Kitty has agreed with the Dutch creator of bunny character Miffy to end a copyright row and instead donate legal costs to victims of the March quake and tsunami.

After a lengthy dispute the two companies issued a joint press release late Tuesday announcing that they had reached “a worldwide settlement ending all legal disputes” and spelling the end for Cathy. [via]

Earthquake Relief for Japan

On 11th March 2011, a massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean nearby Northeastern Japan at around 2:46pm (Japan Time) causing damage with blackouts, fire and tsunami. Our prayers and thoughts continue to go out to family, friends, and coworkers affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

We have previously mentioned how popular Hello Kitty is in Taiwan and here is another example of how well entrenched is the Hello Kitty brand there. Having an airplane with Hello Kitty livery may not be that amazing … but even the serving tray, meals and other details in the airplane were also filled with Hello Kitty images.

Even the head-rest and toiletries were Hello Kitty. What I love most is the Haagen Daz looking large tub of ice-cream.

Taiwan sure is a Hello Kitty nation …

New Hello Kitty park features multilingual theater

An indoor theme park dedicated to Hello Kitty, Sanrio Co’s popular cat character, opened in Tokyo on Friday with many tourist-friendly spots, including a multilingual planetarium-like theater.

Hello Kitty’s Kawaii (cute) Paradise also has a restaurant and gift shop in its 891-square-meter facility at the Venus Fort commercial complex in the Odaiba area, near the capital’s expanded Haneda airport, which opened a new international terminal the previous day. The theater shows a short program in Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese and English, and projects ‘‘constellations’’ in the shape of Sanrio characters. The restaurant serves Hello Kitty pancakes. The facility’s operator PleasureCast Co, a subsidiary of Namco Ltd, said it is targeting 700,000 visits in the first year, including tourists from Asian countries using Haneda airport.

Hello Kitty Tokyo Theme Park

The world’s most famous feline, Hello Kitty is going to her very own theme park. The theme park which is called "Hello Kitty’s Kawaii Paradise" is scheduled to open on October 22 inside the vast Venus Fort shopping complex in Odaiba.

The indoor amusement park will occupy 890 square meters floor space on the first floor of Venus Fort and PleasureCast Co. (subsidiary of Namco Ltd.) It is expected this theme park will attract more than 700,000 visitors in its first year alone. Besides “Hello Kitty’s Kawaii Paradise” theme park, there are two theme parks, Harmonyland and Sanrio Puroland, run by the company that feature Hello Kitty, but this is the first dedicated to the cute cat.

The new theme park will have a theater that shows animated Hello Kitty films projected onto its domed ceiling in four languages – including English and Chinese – as well as a number of restaurants and shops selling character goods. [via]

Hello Kitty, the world’s most famous feline is well adored and celebrated everywhere, including Japan. This summer, a 8-meter tall Hello Kitty balloon is featured at Japan’s Odaiba Marine Park.

Besides Hello Kitty, there are also other Sanrio characters. The “Hello Kitty & Friends Green Tokyo” celebration commenced on 22nd July with daily night light-up at 8.00pm and the 5-minute water fountain display for every 30 minutes interval.

Hello Kitty, the much-loved Japanese feline character, dinged a closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday to commemorate its creator Sanrio Co.‘s 50th anniversary. Hello Kitty, wearing a pink dress, sounded the bell, signaling the end of the day’s trading at the exchange, and blew kisses, raising a cheer among floor traders.

The pop icon was flanked by Sanrio President Shintaro Tsuji. Tsuji established the company on Aug. 10, 1960. Hello Kitty was created in 1974. Sanrio Vice President Kunihiko Tsuji said, ‘‘We’d like people to know Kitty more.’‘ Hello Kitty is said to have many fans among U.S. celebrities, including pop singer Lady Gaga and socialite Paris Hilton.
