In conjunction with the 35th Anniversary celebration of the world’s most famous feline, Hello Kitty, one of the largest departmental stores in Japan, Seibu Ikebukuro is currently having the “Hello Kitty Girlish Culture” exhibition. The main attraction of this exhibition is the Hello Kitty Super Jewel Doll that is covered with a one carat diamond and white topaz. The value of this doll is around 1575 million yen or USD17 million.
The Hello Kitty doll has the height of 10.6 centimetres and it weighs 569 grams. The doll is made of platinum and it is covered with 1 carat diamond and the total of 1939 white topaz and 403 pieces of pink sapphires. The doll is the work of the famous Austrian crystal company - Swarovski.
Besides this doll, the exhibition also features other Hello Kitty merchandises. Visitors can view almost everything that is based on Hello Kitty ranges from shirts, stuffed toys, lunch boxes and many more.
The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 am till 8:00 pm, 1st October 2009 – 12th October 2009.(5:00 pm on the last day). Admission is 700 yen for adults, 500 yen for High School Students, free for junior high school students. [via]
